An iron sword is a sword of the iron tier, crafted from two iron ingots and a stick. It deals 6 ( × 3) damage and is the base for the steel sword, steel claymore, silver sword and warding sword.

The iron swords in Abbey barracks and tower chests are a separate variant: they carry Anemos I and set only an attack damage modifier, so they swing at an attack speed of 4 even though their tooltip shows 1.6.[1]

Usage

Combat

It deals 6 ( × 3) damage at an attack speed of 1.6 and has 500 durability. It hits one harder than the copper sword and one softer than the diamond sword.

Repairing

It can be repaired in an anvil with iron ingots. The pack resets repair costs to zero, so it can be repaired indefinitely; see Repairing.

In a blast furnace it melts down into a single iron ingot, and at a smithing table it takes steel alloy to become its steel counterpart.
