In 1.12.2, the gambeson found in village tannery chests was an older, invisible version of the item. The table still gave that older version in 1.12.5, though the pack's abandoned villages have no loot chests; since 1.12.6-alpha the tannery table is empty.[1] See Sturdy leather armor#Chests.

Usage

Armor

It gives 5 armor with 350 durability and 2 blocks of safe fall distance, twice what leather gives. Projectile Protection IV comes on the item as an ordinary enchantment.

Repairing

It can be repaired in an anvil with tattered leather. The pack resets repair costs to zero, so it can be repaired indefinitely; see Repairing.

History

0.4-alpha Added.
1.10 Armor raised from 4 to 5, equal to the golden chestplate.
1.12.2 Safe fall distance raised from 1 to 2 per piece, and the armor can be repaired with tattered leather.
