A steel claymore is the steel claymore, a two-handed sword that can also block like a shield. It is made by smithing an iron sword with steel alloy and a smithing upgrade template.

This upgrade needs a smithing upgrade template in the template slot; without one, the same iron sword and alloy make a steel sword. Enchantments on the base item carry over.
Usage
Combat
It deals 8 ( × 4) damage at an attack speed of 0.7 and adds 2 attack knockback. It has 1500 durability, half that of the other steel weapons.
Blocking
Holding the use button raises the claymore like a shield. It blocks 70% of melee damage and 60% of arrow and mob projectile damage, and loses durability equal to a quarter of the damage it blocks. An axe disables it for twice as long as a shield.[1] The adamant claymore blocks more.
Repairing
It can be repaired in an anvil with iron ingots. The pack resets repair costs to zero, so it can be repaired indefinitely; see Repairing.
