Iron equipment

Iron equipment is the third tier of tools, weapons and armor, and the base for steel.

Obtaining

Iron equipment is crafted from iron ingots. Raw iron can only be smelted in a blast furnace; the vanilla furnace recipes for iron are blocked. Iron also makes the iron dolabra, iron mattock, iron shears and snow shovel.

Mining

The iron pickaxe mines every ore, including diamond, but cannot get drops from obsidian, crying obsidian or ender chests.

Differences from vanilla

Iron tools have 500 durability instead of 250, and the axe, pickaxe and sword have pack-specific speeds. Iron armor has 350 durability for every piece.

0.6-alpha	Added recipe unlocks for iron equipment.
1.03	The iron dolabra's real attack speed now matches its tooltip.
1.10	Iron shovels now drop snowballs from snow (newly made tools only). Iron mattocks now drop snowballs from snow (newly made tools only).
1.12.1-alpha	The iron sword's attack speed now matches its tooltip. Iron pickaxes can no longer mine obsidian.
1.12.2	Dolabras were redefined as axe (tool) and pickaxe hybrids rather than weapons: damage goes down and weapon intrinsics are removed over time.
