A diamond pickaxe is a pickaxe of the diamond tier, crafted from three diamonds and two sticks. It is the first base-metal pickaxe that harvests obsidian, which it breaks unusually fast.

Usage

Mining

It breaks pickaxe blocks at speed 9 and has 2500 durability (vanilla: 1561). Obsidian, crying obsidian and ender chests break at speed 35.[1]

The pack also makes glass, glass panes, glowstone, sea lanterns and mob heads pickaxe blocks.[2]

Combat

It deals 5 ( × 2.5) damage at an attack speed of 1.2.

Repairing

It can be repaired in an anvil with diamonds. The pack resets repair costs to zero, so it can be repaired indefinitely; see Repairing.

In a blast furnace it melts down into one diamond. It is the base for both electrum and adamant upgrades.
