Electrum equipment
Electrum equipment is diamond equipment upgraded with electrum alloy, a silver and gold alloy. Its tools are the only source of Fortune III, its weapons have Looting and Smite, and its armor adds Warding.
Obtaining
Electrum alloy is crafted from four gold ingots, four silver bullion and a divine fragment. Diamond equipment is upgraded at a smithing table (template for the dolabra and mattock). It can only be repaired with blocks of diamond, which the 1.12.1-alpha notes explain is meant to keep players from always wearing it.
Characteristics
- Tools carry the electrum fortune intrinsic (level 3 on most, 2 on the mattock), which works exactly like Fortune and cannot be combined with Fortune or Silk Touch.
- The sword has
3, Smite III and Looting II; the axe and spear have
2. - Each armor piece adds +1 to Warding; the full set adds the set bonus.
- Electrum items use the netherite item IDs, so they do not burn in fire or lava, and the armor counts as piglin-safe.
The video says electrum has "maximum looting and fortune. Its armor and tools when worn or held burn nearby dead."Klei Wright, "Minecraft punishes casual players. I made a datapack to fix it." (YouTube)
- "Electrum, a silver gold alloy with a maximum looting and fortune. Its armor and tools when worn or held burn nearby dead."
Trivia
- Because electrum items use netherite IDs, smelting them in a blast furnace gives an adamant alloy.
- The electrum pickaxe, shovel, hoe and dolabra have no Warding, but the axe and mattock still do, although the 1.12.2 notes say Warding was removed from electrum tools.

History
| 0.4-alpha | Fixed electrum tools and weapons, whose Warding did not work. Added the electrum spear. |
|---|---|
| 1.03 | Electrum alloy now needs a divine fragment, like adamant, and has an enchantment glint. |
| 1.10 | Buffed electrum, and made the set bonus clearer. |
| 1.12 | Fixed severe multiplayer lag caused by electrum armor. |
| 1.12.1-alpha | Electrum became the only source of Fortune III, and it can only be repaired with blocks of diamond. The set bonus was nerfed from 4 to 2 hearts. |
| 1.12.2 | Electrum equipment no longer burns in fire or lava, and electrum armor counts as armor that piglins accept. Warding was removed from electrum tools so that they focus on Fortune. Dolabras were redefined as axe (tool) and pickaxe hybrids rather than weapons: damage goes down and weapon intrinsics are removed over time. |
