Main article: Equipment

Shakudo equipment is copper equipment upgraded with shakudo alloy, a copper and gold alloy. Its tools have Silk Touch, its axe, sword and spear steal life, and its armor regenerates health, cleanses effects, resists the Wither effect and gives magic protection.

Obtaining

Shakudo alloy is crafted from four blocks of copper and two blocks of gold. Copper equipment is upgraded at a smithing table with no template (template for the dolabra and mattock). It is repaired with blocks of copper. There is also a shakudo elytra.

Intrinsics

  • Tools have Silk Touch.
  • Axe, sword and spear give the wielder Regeneration III for 1 second on each hit.
  • Armor: each piece cleanses one kind of effect (helmet: Blindness and Darkness; chestplate: Poison; leggings: Slowness; boots: Levitation), gives magic protection 8, and counts towards the regeneration bonus:  Regeneration I for 3 seconds every 30 seconds with one piece, and every 26, 22 or 18 seconds with two, three or four (see Set bonus#Shakudo regeneration).[1] Each piece also adds a level of wither resistance, which delays the Wither effect's heart loss; the shakudo elytra gives the maximum on its own.[2]

The video describes shakudo as "a gold-copper alloy that cleanses malefic, steals life from mobs, and whose tools have silk touch as an intrinsic."[3]

History

0.4-alpha Shakudo armor could not be crafted; this was fixed. Fixed the shakudo sword; its life steal no longer works on armor stands.
1.10 Shakudo was renamed from "Palatinate" in the language file only, so existing items keep working. Shakudo alloy became more expensive: 3 gold and 6 copper ingots became 2 blocks of gold and 4 blocks of copper. Buffed shakudo armor: added the regeneration ability and the per-piece bonus.
1.12 Fixed severe multiplayer lag caused by shakudo armor. The shakudo spear's real attack speed now matches its tooltip.
1.12.1-alpha Shakudo intrinsics are now exclusive with the electrum and adamant intrinsics. Shakudo armor was nerfed.
1.12.2 The shakudo chestplate no longer cleanses the Wither effect. The shakudo axe gained life steal, and the shakudo mattock's attack damage was lowered from 4 to 2. Dolabras were redefined as axe (tool) and pickaxe hybrids rather than weapons: damage goes down and weapon intrinsics are removed over time.
1.12.3 The weapons' life steal intrinsic shows its glyphs in the tooltip instead of its translation key.[4]
1.12.6-alpha Shakudo armor gained wither resistance, and the shakudo elytra gives the maximum. The regeneration timer is kept for each player and starts when the armor is put on.[5]

Trivia

  • Shakudo was called "Palatinate" until 1.10; the rename happened only in the language file, and the advancement for smithing it is still called "Palatinate Perfection".
