A Hell-Bound Book is the Matcha Flavoured name for the enchanted book. A crafted Hell-Bound Book is the base of every blessing: it is surrounded with themed ingredients to make a book with fixed enchantments. The name applies to every enchanted book, so blessings, Ofuda and enchanted books found in chests are all Hell-Bound Books underneath.
Obtaining
Crafting
| Name | Ingredients | Recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Hell-Bound Book | Benzene + Stabilized Estus + Book |
matcha:blessing/hell_bound_book |
The crafted book stacks to 64 and stores Curse of Binding I.[1] Both other ingredients are magic materials: Stabilized Estus is itself crafted from seven Estus Ash, a Benzene and a Stable Void, so one book costs two Benzene in total.
Chest loot and fishing
Books with random enchantments are still found in many chests and in fishing treasure. These are ordinary enchanted books, so they also show the name "Hell-Bound Book". See Enchanting#Other sources for the list.
Block drops
Block drops
| Source | Stack size | Chance | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enchanting table (blocks/enchanting_table) | 1 | 100% |
The enchanting table, which cannot be crafted in the pack, drops a Hell-Bound Book with no stored enchantments when broken, along with 2 diamonds and 4 obsidian.[2]
Usage
Crafting ingredient
Every blessing recipe places the Hell-Bound Book in the center of the grid. The blessing that comes out stores only its own enchantments, not the Curse of Binding.
Anvil
A blank Hell-Bound Book can be combined with equipment in an anvil like any enchanted book, which applies its Curse of Binding to wearable equipment.

Trivia
- The pack's English language file writes the name in red (the
§cformatting code), so every enchanted book's name shows in red.[4] - An enchanted book pulled up while fishing plays a custom "Caught a Hell-Bound Book" sound, and the Angler's Almanac has an entry for it: "A mysterious enchanted book pulled from the water. Hopefully the magic works better when dry."
