An adamant chestplate is the adamant chestplate, made by smithing a diamond chestplate with adamant alloy. Adamant replaces netherite, and its armor carries the Doom intrinsic.

The upgrade needs no template, and enchantments on the diamond item carry over; where both have the same enchantment, the higher level is kept.[1]

Usage

Armor

It gives 8 armor, 3 toughness and 10% knockback resistance, the vanilla netherite values, with 1000 durability. Each piece also has Protection I and Unbreaking II.

Doom

The Doom intrinsic periodically clears Weakness from nearby creatures and deals armor-piercing damage as it does, so it combines with the Weakness from adamant weapons. Each piece strengthens it, and wearing all four adds the Doom set bonus as well as Absorption I (2 hearts) for 31 seconds every 30 seconds.[2]

Repairing

It can be repaired in an anvil with blocks of diamond or adamant scrap. The pack resets repair costs to zero, so it can be repaired indefinitely; see Repairing.

In a blast furnace it melts down into one adamant alloy, returning the alloy but losing the diamonds.

Trading

An apprentice weaponsmith buys it for one adamant alloy.[3]

Notes

  • The hand-written tooltip hides the real attributes and shows knockback resistance 1 (real value 0.1).

History

0.4-alpha Added item textures.
1.03 The vanilla netherite recipes were blocked.
1.10 A weaponsmith now takes the item back in exchange for its alloy, so players can rebuild it with updated stats. The set bonus was nerfed slightly.
1.12 Fixed severe multiplayer lag caused by adamant armor.
1.12.1-alpha Smithing no longer takes an ingot in the template slot, and the upgrade keeps the base item's enchantments. Added the "Repaired with" tooltip. Reworked: pieces gave Health Boost hearts and the set bonus 2 soul hearts. Durability lowered from 1500 to 1000.
1.12.2 The intrinsic was reworked into Doom. Moved to the matcha namespace; older copies can be updated with /trigger update_item.
