An adamant shovel is the adamant shovel, made by smithing a diamond shovel with adamant alloy. Sand it digs comes out as glass.

The upgrade needs no template, and enchantments on the diamond item carry over; where both have the same enchantment, the higher level is kept.[1]

Usage

Digging

It breaks shovel blocks at speed 15 and has 5000 durability.

Intrinsics

Efficiency II, Unbreaking II and smelting. The smelting intrinsic makes mined blocks drop their smelted form where the block's loot table supports it: ores drop ingots or silver bullion, logs drop charcoal, sand drops glass and cobblestone drops stone.[2] Intrinsics are stored on the item and applied as enchantments when it enters a player's inventory.[3]

Combat

It deals 6.5 (Heart × 3.25) damage at an attack speed of 1.

Repairing

It can be repaired in an anvil with blocks of diamond or adamant scrap. The pack resets repair costs to zero, so it can be repaired indefinitely; see Repairing.

In a blast furnace it melts down into one adamant alloy, returning the alloy but losing the diamonds.

An apprentice weaponsmith buys it for one adamant alloy.[4]

History

1.03 The vanilla netherite recipes were blocked.
1.10 A weaponsmith now takes the item back in exchange for its alloy, so players can rebuild it with updated stats.
1.12.1-alpha Smithing no longer takes an ingot in the template slot, and the upgrade keeps the base item's enchantments. Added the "Repaired with" tooltip. Divinity was replaced with Efficiency.
1.12.2 Now smelts the blocks it mines. Moved to the matcha namespace; older copies can be updated with /trigger update_item.
