A steel hoe is the steel hoe, made by smithing an iron hoe with steel alloy.

The upgrade needs no template. Enchantments on the iron item carry over; where both items have the same enchantment, the higher level is kept.[1]
Usage
Farming and mining
It breaks hoe blocks at speed 8, the same as the iron hoe, but lasts 3000 uses. Hoes in Matcha Flavoured also break wool, carpets, glow lichen and phosphor lamps quickly.[2]
Combat
It deals 1 ( × 0.5) damage at an attack speed of 2, slower than the iron hoe. Steel tools reuse the removed stone tools' item IDs, so where the item sets no attack attributes of its own it keeps the stone tool's values.
Repairing
It can be repaired in an anvil with iron ingots. The pack resets repair costs to zero, so it can be repaired indefinitely; see Repairing.
Notes
- The hand-written tooltip hides the real attributes and shows attack speed 3 (real value 2).[3]
