Diamond equipment

Diamond equipment is the highest base tier. It has no intrinsics of its own, but it is the only base that can take electrum or adamant.

Obtaining

Diamond ore drops raw diamonds, which must be smelted in a blast furnace. The 1.12.2 notes explain that this stops free diamonds from surface structures and makes players "feel good to finally be able to USE the diamonds you collected".Matcha Flavoured 1.12.2 release notes

"This should extend the copper and iron age a bit more, and when you finally have a blast furnace, feel good to finally be able to USE the diamonds you collected"

Mining

The diamond pickaxe and dolabra mine obsidian, crying obsidian and ender chests at speed 35.

Differences from vanilla

Diamond tools have 2500 durability and diamond armor 800 for every piece.

1.12.2	Dolabras were redefined as axe (tool) and pickaxe hybrids rather than weapons: damage goes down and weapon intrinsics are removed over time. Diamond ores now drop raw diamonds, which must be smelted in a blast furnace.
