Mobs

This is the Matcha Flavoured version of Mobs, renamed or changed from vanilla Minecraft.

Mobs in Matcha Flavoured are the vanilla Minecraft mobs, with changes to where hostile mobs spawn, how strong they are on each difficulty, and what they drop. The pack's changes follow a few rules:

  • Only the undead roam the surface. In the Overworld, hostile mobs that aren't undead can't spawn under the open sky, and after the Ender Dragon is killed no common hostile mob can spawn above sea level. See Spawning and Surface.
  • Difficulty reshapes mobs. Zombies become fast strikers, husks slow tanks, and skeletons, creepers, cave spiders and silverfish lose health. See Difficulty.
  • Killing is rewarded, farming isn't. Many drops are raised, and most hostile drops need a player kill. Zombies, husks, skeletons and spiders from the pack's spawners drop nothing, and hostile mobs don't drop the equipment they spawn with.
  • No rotten flesh. Zombie-type mobs drop Tattered Leather Tattered Leather or Sturdy Leather Sturdy Leather instead, and most undead drop Raw Estus Raw Estus or Estus Ash Estus Ash.
  • Animals drop meat. Several animals that drop nothing in vanilla now drop Raw Flesh Raw Flesh.

Hostile mobs

Main articles: Spawning, Difficulty

The pack's "mundane hostile" mobs are checked once when they appear, removed if they are somewhere they aren't allowed, and otherwise modified for the difficulty.[1]

Other hostile mobs with changes:

  • Wither Skeleton: breaks blocks in fortresses; skull drop 30%.
  • Blaze: drops fire charges instead of blaze rods.
  • Phantom: doesn't spawn.
  • Wither: can only be summoned on the Overworld surface.
  • Ender Dragon: killing it makes the surface safe.

Undead

The undead (vanilla's #minecraft:undead tag) matter in the pack for two reasons: they are the only hostile mobs allowed to spawn under the open sky before the dragon is killed, and they are hurt by warding.[2] Undead mobs wearing a copper armor piece are immune to most warding. Most undead drop Raw Estus Raw Estus or Estus Ash Estus Ash; blazes, which aren't undead, no longer do.
