Magic protection (
) is an intrinsic of shakudo armor that reduces damage from magic. It works like a stronger Protection enchantment that applies only to magic damage.
Mechanics
Magic protection adds enchantment protection points against any damage in the minecraft:is_magic damage type tag, which the pack defines itself:[1][2]
magicandindirect_magic, such as Poison and Instant Damage from potions,dragon_breath,bad_respawn_point, the explosion of a bed or respawn anchor used in the wrong dimension,ender_pearl, the damage from landing an ender pearl,sonic_boom, the Warden's ranged attack. The Warden's sonic boom ignores enchantments in vanilla, so magic protection does nothing against it in practice.
The points are added to those from Protection and the other protection enchantments. As in vanilla, each point reduces the damage by 4%, and the total is capped at 20 points (80%).
| Item | Tooltip | Points | Reduction on its own |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 each | 32% | ||
| 20 | 80% |
Two shakudo armor pieces give 16 points (64%), and three or more pieces, or the shakudo elytra alone, reach the 80% cap. The Wither effect deals its own damage type, not magic, so magic protection does not reduce it.
Both versions count as armor protection enchantments, so they can't be combined with Protection, Fire Protection, Blast Protection or Projectile Protection on the same piece.[4]
