Previous1.12.5

Matcha Flavoured 1.12.6-alpha, "Poplar Drop", is the current version of Matcha Flavoured, published on October 14, 2026, four days after 1.12.5. It is an alpha for Minecraft 26.3: its pack.mcmeta reports the version as "1.12.6 for 26.3", while 1.12.5 was a full release for 26.2.[1] It is the first release of the pack's 26.3 port since the 1.12.3 alpha for 26.3, so besides the changes in its release notes it brings everything the port has that the 26.2 releases don't: poplar trees, cushions, abandoned camps, reworked swamps and more. The newest full release is still 1.12.5, for 26.2.

The release notes say that an earlier upload was taken off Modrinth after a reported game-breaking bug, which turned out not to be real, and that the developer fixed other bugs while it was down.[2]

Major additions and changes

Husks and Hunger

  • Husks deal 6 ( × 3) of damage instead of 10 ( × 5) on Normal.[3]
  • The Hunger effect, which husks inflict, now does something: on Normal and Hard, a player with Hunger can't regenerate, so food doesn't heal until it wears off. An action-bar meter counts down its remaining time. Easy is exempt.[4][5] To make room for this, the pack no longer gives players a hidden Hunger effect to hold their food bar down; it only tops the bar up with Saturation when it falls to 8 or lower.[6] See Hunger.
  • Foods with the "Cleanse Maleffect" intrinsic, such as bread, honey ginger tea and ice cream, also remove Hunger.[7]

Wither

Main article: Wither effect
  • The Wither effect takes a heart after 9 seconds on Normal and 6 seconds on Hard, instead of 8 seconds on both.[8][9]
  • Shakudo armor gives wither resistance, which adds time to that timer: each piece counts, up to four, and the shakudo elytra gives the full amount by itself. On Normal, one piece outlasts a single wither skeleton hit.[10][11]
  • Shakudo armor's cleanse no longer removes Wither.[12]
  • Losing a heart this way grants a new hidden advancement, Heartbreaker.[13]
  • Milk bottles are drunk twice as fast (0.8 seconds instead of 1.6), which the notes suggest as preparation against the Wither.[14][15]

Renamed items

From the 26.3 port

These come from the pack's 26.3 branch and are new compared with 1.12.5. Most were first published in the 1.12.3 alpha for 26.3:

Textures

  • New textures for the shipwreck, trail ruins, papal outpost and Abbey maps.[17]
  • Leaf textures changed "for optimisation reasons".[18]
  • A jungle shelf texture, which was missing, and fixes to some emoji glyphs.[19]

Other changes

  • Ice cream no longer leaves a bowl.[20]
  • Food takes 10 seconds to cook on kindling, up from 5; the notes call this a fix of campfire cooking times.[21] The mud kiln's and the blast furnace's recipes have twice as many ticks too, but since smokers and blast furnaces cook at double speed in Minecraft 26.3, they take as long as before.[22][23]
  • The pack no longer revokes advancements when a world is updated; the notes say this was only needed for 1.12.3 and 1.12.4.[24] Advancements that the pack uses as triggers are instead revoked when the pack loads and when a player joins.[25]
  • Some favorite food trades ask for more of the food than 1: 8 of each of the four chicken nuggets, 4 puerquitos or 3 honey ginger teas for an obol.[26][27][28] The toadstool stroganoff trade asks for the real dish; it used to ask for a misspelled name key, which no toadstool stroganoff has.[29]
  • Jewelry is built on a poisonous potato instead of a netherite helmet, so it can no longer be combined with a helmet in an anvil, and its gem intrinsics are exclusive with each other.[30]
  • Crystal hearts no longer keep the poisonous potato's food component.[31]
  • Fish bones from junk catches are bones instead of ender pearls.[32] Crafting cheese gives the glass bottle back.[33] "Three in One?" gives the two obols its description shows instead of one.[34] See Advancements.

Fixes

The release notes list these fixes. Most were bugs of the 1.12.3 alpha for 26.3 that the 26.2 releases had already fixed or never had:

  • Straw beds, a Minecraft 26.3 block, work with the pack's sleeping system, which now starts when a bed or straw bed is used instead of when the game reports that the player slept in a bed. The resource pack adds a texture for them.[35][36]
  • Treasure maps from shipwrecks and ocean ruins are Minecraft 26.3's buried treasure map item, and the ocean ruins' maps lead to buried treasure; in the 26.3 alpha they led to woodland mansions.[37] See Explorer maps.
  • Chocolate stacks, as it has on 26.2 since 1.12.4.
  • Curries and tonkotsu ramen can't be cooked on kindling, as on 26.2 since 1.12.5.

Known issues

The release notes warn that some foods may be inedible: old foods "maybe", vanilla foods (from the creative menu) unless they update themselves, raw meats, and sometimes modded foods, which a datapack can't fix. They ask players who find a newly made food that can't be eaten to report it.[38] The pack's own foods have no food component and can always be eaten, but vanilla foods keep theirs, and since the pack no longer holds the food bar down, they can't be eaten while it is full. See Known bugs.[39]

The repository's changelog keeps the credits of 1.12.5, with more thanks to HapppySpud ("and much more"), Linkershim ("MANY other coding things") and Fpekal ("a TON on the 26.3 port"). See Credits.[40]
