Matcha Flavoured 1.12, the "Armour Performance Issue Hotfix", is a hotfix published on August 12, 2026. It fixed severe multiplayer lag caused by alloy armor, toned down husks, made "true darkness" optional and brightened Hell slightly. The next version, 1.12.1-alpha, began a cycle of pre-releases. It was also the first version marked on Modrinth as a resource pack as well as a datapack.[1]
Changes
Husks
- On Normal, husks move a little more slowly.
- Husk spawn rate lowered from 80 to 50.
- Husk base damage lowered: 15 to 10 on Normal and 20 to 15 on Hard.
- Husks call for reinforcements less often; the rate had been set far too high by mistake.
- The notes clarify that husks never had a longer attack range than in vanilla.
Darkness
- "True darkness" stays in the overworld, but can now be turned off: delete
data/minecraft/dimension_type/overworld.jsonfrom the datapack, renameoverworld_no_true_darkness.txttooverworld.json, and restart the world. See Darkness. - Hell's ambient light raised from 0.1 to 0.3, so that its darkest areas are less dark.
Other
- Buffed buried treasure, both natural and from fishing, after the nerf in 1.10.
- The Estus flask, removed in 1.10, was kept after all because it is important on harder difficulties, but its advancement was not restored. The flask was removed for good in 1.12.2.
- The
en_uslanguage file is again copied to the other English variants.
Fixes
- Electrum, adamant and shakudo armor caused severe performance problems in multiplayer.
- Ominous trial keys did not drop from the ominous spawners in the Abbey. As a stopgap, spawners have a 20% chance to drop one when choosing a key item, and the ominous trial key became craftable.
- The
potionsfolder had not actually been deleted. - TNT recipe unlocks.
- A typo stopped crystal hearts from being removed properly.
- The bronze (hepatizon) and shakudo spear cooldowns match their tooltips.
- Amber earrings could be crafted in a smithing table, left over from testing.
- Crystal hearts bought from villagers can no longer be eaten.
Trivia
- The notes point out that the brick-colored anvil texture is deliberate, so that the developer could build with brick-colored anvils.
