Cleanse () is an intrinsic that removes harmful status effects. On shakudo armor it works constantly, making the wearer immune to certain effects, and on a few foods it removes them once when eaten.

The developer describes shakudo as the alloy that "cleanses malefic".

Equipment

Each shakudo armor piece cleanses a different set of effects. The effect is removed every tick, so while the piece is worn the effect can never take hold.

The shakudo elytra is the only equipment that cleanses the Wither effect, which is especially dangerous in Hell.

Food cleansing is a one-time removal, not an immunity. The food version of Cleanse Maleffect also removes Bad Omen, which the shakudo elytra does not.

History

0.7-alpha	Bread now cleanses maleffects.
1.10	Added the Cleanse and Cleanse Maleffect tooltip glyphs. Bread, milk and honey ginger tea were given the new glyphs, so old copies no longer stack with new ones. Shakudo armor was buffed with a new ability and per-piece bonuses.
1.12.2	The Shakudo Chestplate no longer cleanses the Wither effect. The release notes told players to bring milk or bread to Hell.
