The Weaponsmith is a villager profession that melts alloy equipment back into its alloy and buys non-renewable materials for Obols. Its job site block is the Grindstone. It exists mainly to let players whose equipment predates a balance change rebuild it with the current stats.[1]
Trades
All trades can be used 999 times before restocking, give 10 villager XP each, and every level offers all of its trades.[2] The weaponsmith has no trades above Apprentice.[3]

The developer describes these as trades for non-renewable resources.[4][5]
Apprentice
At Apprentice level the weaponsmith offers 49 trades, one for each piece of alloy armor and each alloy tool or weapon. Each takes one piece of equipment and gives back one ingot of its alloy:[6]

The trades identify each item by its model, so any durability is accepted.[7] Enchantments on the traded item are lost; the release notes suggest re-applying them with commands.[8]
Like every villager, a weaponsmith that has been traded with also buys its favorite food once.

- The weaponsmith is the only profession not required for the A True Community advancement.[9]
- The trade that gives Silver Bullion for Electrum Alloy is internally named
silver_from_electrum.
