Matcha Flavoured 1.12.4, the "Intrinsic Hotfix", is a version of Matcha Flavoured, published on October 5, 2026, three days after 1.12.3. It is a hotfix for Minecraft 26.2. The developer writes that they hoped the long alpha and beta would leave no major bugs, "But I was wrong".[1] Only the datapack changed; the resource pack of 1.12.3 is still current.[2]

1.12.4 was made from the pack's 26.2 branch. The Minecraft 26.3 port published as an alpha alongside 1.12.3 continues on the repository's 26.3 branch and has no newer release. 1.12.4 was followed by the bug-fix release 1.12.5.

Fixes

The release notes list four fixes:[3]

  • Intrinsic enchantments on armor and tools work again. Since 1.12.2-beta the advancement that applies them had looked for the wrong kind of data on the item, so it never fired. Items get their intrinsics as soon as the inventory changes (picking up or moving any item); they don't need /trigger update_item.[4]
  • Sleeping in multiplayer: a second player getting into bed while another was already asleep was counted as awake at once. They now sleep normally.[5]
  • Chocolate stacks again: the chocolate made in an oven or on a campfire was missing its stack size, unlike the chocolate from loot.[6]
  • The fox pelt models were fixed: the fox loot table named them without the matcha: namespace. A later change in the same release moved the pelts into loot tables of their own, and the rewritten fox table can't be loaded, so foxes drop nothing (see below).[7]

Other changes

  • Items carry a version number, and an item updater (the matcha_item namespace) brings old copies of every pack item up to date when they are in the player's hands or armor slots. See Updating items.[8]
  • The archaeology loot tables of cold and warm ocean ruins get the rusty axe from a new shared loot table, matcha:equipment/misc/rusty_axe; the axe itself is unchanged.[9]

Bugs

Two loot tables of this release can't be loaded by the game, so they give nothing.

  • The fishing junk table isn't valid JSON (a trailing comma), so junk catches give nothing.[10]
  • The fox table names a loot table as an item and uses the wrong key for another, so foxes drop no pelt and no raw flesh.[11]

The new item updater also can't restore enchantments, because it calls functions under a folder that doesn't exist (see Known bugs).
