Bobwhite
TypeUnfinished chicken variant

The bobwhite is an unfinished chicken variant in Matcha Flavoured. 1.12.5, the current release for Minecraft 26.2, has nothing of it but a few names in the language file: subtitles reading "Bobwhite Sings" and "Bobwhite Cries", and an item called "Small Egg" (item.kleispack.bobwhite_egg), which nothing uses.[1] The 1.12.3 alpha for 26.3, and the 26.3 port that continues it, add more leftovers: three debug spawn eggs in loot tables, a spawn egg model and sounds. There is no way to meet a bobwhite in a normal world in either version.

Obtaining

In the 26.3 port, three loot tables in the datapack's debug/chicken folder each give a chicken spawn egg with the bobwhite's spawn egg model and a custom name, for use with /loot give only. No chest, mob or trade uses them.[2]

Egg Loot table Spawns
Normal Bobwhite matcha:debug/chicken/normal_bobwhite An adult chicken tagged wild at 0.8 times the normal size
Mama Bobwhite matcha:debug/chicken/mama_bobwhite An adult chicken tagged mama
Baby Bobwhite matcha:debug/chicken/baby_bobwhite A chick tagged wild whose age is locked, so it never grows up

Each egg asks for the chicken variant matcha:bobwhite and the sound variant matcha:bobwhite.[3][4] The port has no definition for either variant, so the eggs cannot make a bobwhite.[5]

Resource pack

The 26.3 port's resource pack has the bobwhite's sound events (ambient with four calls, and hurt) and its spawn egg model.[6][7] No datapack file gives the "Small Egg". The language file also names duck and seagull subtitles and green and teal eggs, in the same unfinished set.[8]

History

Upcoming The debug spawn egg loot tables, spawn egg model and sounds for the bobwhite were added in the 1.12.3 alpha for 26.3.
