Kindling is a block used to cook food without fuel. It replaces the campfire and is the first cooking station a player can build. It cooks every food an oven can except pumpkin curry, popped chorus fruit and dried kelp, and it also dries grass and fires clay.

Kindling is crafted from 2 sticks and 2 logs, and always comes out unlit.[1] The vanilla campfire recipe (which used coal) is removed.
Breaking
Kindling always drops itself, unlit, instead of charcoal.[2]
Usage
Kindling has to be lit with tinder or a fire starter before it can cook. Lighting it grants Prometheus be Damned.[3]
Cooking
Up to four items cook at once, each in 5 seconds (15 seconds for the oven meals), much faster than a vanilla campfire's 30 seconds. It cooks:
- All simple preparations of intrinsic ingredients.
- Bread, baked potatoes, fried eggs, nopales, molasses and cooked meat and fish.[4]
- Green curry, Japanese curry, paneer makhani and tonkotsu ramen from their stocks.
It also turns short grass and ferns into short dry grass (10 seconds), tall grass and large ferns into tall dry grass, bushes into dead bushes and clay balls into bricks (5 seconds each).[5] Drying grass grants Harvester.
