This is the Matcha Flavoured version of Explorer Map, renamed or changed from vanilla Minecraft.

Explorer maps are filled maps that mark the location of a structure. In Matcha Flavoured they are sold by the Archaeologist and the Wandering Trader for a single Obol each, with no compass needed. The pack adds maps to many more structures than vanilla Minecraft, including its own Overgrown Abbey and Papal Outpost.

The Archaeologist (the renamed cartographer) sells 12 maps across its five levels. Each map trade can be used 999 times.

The Papal Outpost map searches for pillager outposts, because the papal outpost generates in their place. The Overgrown Abbey map is the only one bought with a book instead of an obol; there are two separate trades, one for each book. The Papal Outpost and Overgrown Abbey maps have their own item textures.

A Wandering Trader offers 3 of these 6 maps, each for 1 obol and each usable once:

Other maps

Buried treasure maps are found in shipwreck map chests and ocean ruin chests, as in vanilla Minecraft; see Buried treasure.

Behavior

When the villager reaches the level that offers a map, the game searches for the nearest structure of that type within 100 chunks. If one is found, the map is drawn with the structure's marker; if not, that trade is left out of the villager's offers. Every copy bought from the same villager leads to the same structure.

Compared with vanilla, where a cartographer's explorer maps cost 8 to 14 emeralds plus a compass and can be bought a few times before restocking, every Matcha Flavoured map costs a single obol.

History

1.10	The Archaeologist sells Overgrown Abbey and Papal Outpost maps, with new map textures. The names of all explorer maps were updated.

Trivia

• The Desert Temple Map uses the desert village marker, and the Trail Ruins Map uses the plains village marker.
• The language file also contains the name "Archive Map", for the planned Archive, but no trade or loot table gives one.
• The developer has described a plan in which sacred texts are traded for maps that lead from one structure to the next, with the Archaeologist buying sacred texts; the Overgrown Abbey map is the first trade of this kind.
• The developer's to-do list includes making map trades require a secondary item, such as an empty map.
