Progression in Matcha Flavoured follows a fixed chain of workstations and metals, and the Tutorial advancements trace that chain. There are no stone tools: equipment goes from wood to copper, iron and diamond, and each metal needs a hotter furnace than the one before. This page lists each step with the recipe or rule that makes it necessary.

Stages

1	Wood	Logs unlock the recipes for sticks, kindling and chests, and planks unlock the wooden tools. A wooden pickaxe (200 durability) mines stone, coal and copper, but not deepslate, iron, gold, silver, diamond or sulfur ores.	—
2	Fire	Kindling is crafted unlit (2 sticks over 2 logs). Light it with tinder (2 sticks and short grass, fern or bush; single use) or a fire starter (2 flint).	Prometheus be Damned
3	Dry grass	Short grass only drops itself when broken with a hoe or shears; with a hoe, it drops wheat grain instead 12.5% of the time. Cook short grass or fern on the kindling (10 seconds) to get short dry grass.	Harvester
4	Mud kiln	Short dry grass + dirt → 1 packed mud; 4 packed mud → 4 mud bricks. A mud kiln takes 4 mud bricks, 2 packed mud and 1 kindling.	Ancient Technology
5	Copper	Smelt raw copper in the mud kiln. The kiln also turns cobblestone into limestone (stone), limestone into smooth stone, clay balls into bricks, sand into glass and logs into charcoal. Copper tools, including the mattock and dolabra, can mine deepslate, iron and silver ores, but not gold or diamond.	Brazier , Two in One, Mason
6	Blast furnace	4 polished deepslate, 2 smooth stone and 1 kindling. Iron, gold, silver and diamond can only be smelted here.	Burgeoning Metallurge

8	Oven	3 iron ingots, 4 blocks of bricks and 1 kindling. Five bricks also make 4 bowls, needed for the oven meals. See Cooking.	Now You're Cooking, Manners First
9	Steel and smithing	4 iron ingots + 1 coal block → 4 carbon-rich iron; blast it into steel alloy (5 seconds). 2 steel + 4 planks make a smithing table; 3 steel + 4 iron make an anvil.	A Brittle Alloy?, A Tough Alloy, Master Metallurge

12	The End	Eyes of ender need divine fragments from spawners or strong mobs. Killing the Ender Dragon makes the surface safe.	The End of Dreams , Iconoclast

Milestones marked lower the player's minimum hearts; see Advancements#Rewards and Death. Progressing quickly therefore makes death more costly sooner, which the developer suggests avoiding by slowing down.
