Previous1.12.7-beta

Matcha Flavoured 1.12.8-beta, "Poplar Drop", is the current version of Matcha Flavoured, published on October 23, 2026, six days after 1.12.7-beta. It is a beta for Minecraft 26.3: its pack.mcmeta files report the version as "1.12.8 for 26.3", and the internal version number is 1128.[1][2] The newest full release is still 1.12.5, for 26.2.

The release notes open with an apology for putting out 1.12.7-beta only three days after the alpha, and say that updates should now come about a week apart, with new features held back and bundled into bigger updates. They say this beta will become the full release if no new major bugs are reported over the next week.[3]

Changes

Ores

Main articles: Fossil, Ores
  • Redstone ore is now the fossil instead of the sulfurous quartz deposit. It drops 2–5 bones instead of a sulfur chunk and quartz, and its veins generate higher, from Y=16 to 56 (4 per chunk).[4][5] The release notes call it "Peaceful bones!".[6]
  • The sulfur deposit (deepslate redstone ore) has a new texture in three variants, and it and sulfurous hellstone give off sulfur particles when stepped on.[7][8] With redstone ore taken over by fossils, ore quartz now comes only from quartz deposits.

Renamed items

  • The chemistry stand (brewing stand) is renamed Kettle, and the brewing screen has no title. The release notes list the name as an expected issue: "Chemistry Stand name is messed up, don't worry about it".[9][10]
  • Bubbling Mead is renamed Sparkling Mead, and Clear Mushroom Soup Suimono.[11]
  • Several explorer maps were renamed. The archaeologist's Witch Hut, Desert Temple, Jungle Temple, Warm Ocean Ruin and Mansion maps now show Minecraft 26.3's own names: Swamp Hut, Desert Pyramid, Jungle Pyramid, Warm Ocean Ruins and Woodland Explorer Map. The other way round, the Buried Trial Chambers, Buried Mineshaft and Woodland Mansion maps in the abandoned camp's chest now show the pack's names: Trial Chamber, Mineshaft and Mansion Map.[12][13] The release notes warn that "some map names will be messed up" to future-proof later map changes.[14]

Blessings and enchantments

Main article: Blessing
  • Zephyr can be applied only to leather boots.[15][16]
  • The Elegy of Hyacinthus gives Wind Burst I along with Zephyr I, and the Prayer of Aeolus gives only Anemos, which maces can take again.[17][18]
  • "Demonic Emissary" needs only the 17 blessings that count for "Apocrypha" (which takes any one of them); six prayers and the Hell-Bound Book no longer count.[19] See Advancements.
  • The blessing recipes were renamed after their figures (blessing/reach became blessing/will, and so on); apart from the two above, they are unchanged.

Difficulty

Main article: Difficulty
  • A new world that starts on Hard is set to Normal when its first player joins, with a title and a chat message explaining that Hard is not balanced for the early game. Hardcore worlds are left alone, and the difficulty can be changed back afterwards.[20][21]
  • On Hard, husks deal 10 damage instead of 15.[22]

World

  • Freezing water affects players who are in the water at all, wading or swimming at the surface, not only those whose head is under it.[23]
  • Emptying a water bucket in Hell is detected by an advancement, which checks the height of the placed water instead of the player's, and plays an extinguishing sound.[24]
  • Endermen spawn in the End again.[25]
  • The two crystal hearts placed in the Abbey no longer despawn.[26]
  • The abandoned village's scripts run only for players inside villages, and its jukebox counts down a score instead of using a scheduled function.[27]
  • Podzol can be crafted from dirt and leaf litter.[28]

Trades

  • The wandering trader's five abandoned village maps are offered again, and each can be bought 999 times. The Swamp Hut Map trade is still never offered (see Known bugs).[29][30]

Fishing

Main article: Fishing
  • The fishing table's weight of 85 is on each biome table instead of on the entry that holds them, so catches in open water are again 85% fish, 10% junk and 5% treasure before any Luck of the Sea; in 1.12.7-beta only 1 such catch in 16 was a fish.[31][32]
  • Guardians have a 2 in 3 chance of dropping a roll of the fishing table instead of plain cod; with no fishing hook involved, it gives fish or junk but never treasure.[33][34]

Items and mechanics

  • Chickens lay a feather with every egg.[35][36] See Egg.
  • Adamant tools smelt diamond ore into diamonds.[37] See Diamond Ore.
  • The pack's repair-cost reset only rewrites items whose repair cost isn't already 0. Rewriting every item emptied backpacks from mods such as Traveler's Backpacks.[38][39] See Repairing.
  • The text shader that hides the experience level only hides interface text in the bottom quarter of the screen, so signs and books are no longer blank.[40][41] See Anvil.
  • Fishermen no longer get a favorite food.[42]
  • The item updater no longer turns plain bones, raw porkchops and brushes into the pack's custom items, updates the old bronze items to hepatizon, and gives the Overgrown Abbey Map its model. It also gives a held blessing the plain enchanted book model, so the blessing loses its own texture (see Known bugs).[43][44][45]

Credits

The release notes credit HapppySpud with the Hard-difficulty check (with the developer) and the sign and book fix, Madelinebug with the Abbey's crystal hearts and fishing, ReinIsNOTaDev with the backpack fix, and Internet-Hyena with the steel lanterns, which are not in the pack's files: the lantern recipe still uses iron nuggets.[46][47] The datapack's credits file is now CREDITS.md, with new contributors. See Credits.[48]
