This article is about features that are not yet in a release. For released versions, see Version history.

This page collects features of Matcha Flavoured that are in development or planned, as recorded in the repository's in-development changelog.md, the developer's my_current_and_future_plans.md and the README. None of it is in the current release, 1.12.2-beta, and plans may change or be dropped.

In development

This section describes content in development that is not in a released version of Matcha Flavoured yet, based on the repository's changelog.md. It may change before release.

Post-release fixes

The main branch already contains bug fixes made after 1.12.2-beta, including improvements to the item update trigger, fixes for Fortune on gold ore, empty bottles from crafting, the freezing water effect on spectators, and several namespace errors. They are listed in full on the 1.12.2 page.

Minecraft 26.3

26.3 changes datapack syntax, and a port was in progress at the time of 1.12.2-beta.[1] The docket lists work still needed for it: poplar leaves need a crafting advancement and loot tables.[2]

Next update

This section describes planned features from the developer's notes (changelog.md). None of it is in the game yet, and it may never be.

The in-development changelog lists these as planned for the update after 1.12.2:[3]

Aspects
Post-End enchanting that extracts an alloy's intrinsic as an "aspect", using a withered heart and dragon's breath. Planned pairings: bronze (hepatizon) gives Efficiency, steel Unbreaking, electrum Fortune III, netherite (adamant) smelting, and shakudo Silk Touch or life steal. An Unbreaking enchantment from the Wither's heart is also planned, and Protection may be replaced by more specific protections.
Copper intrinsic
A "conductive" intrinsic for copper armor that draws aura-based effects such as warding onto itself and nullifies them. The notes suggest players may need more pieces than zombies for full immunity.
Difficulty scaling
The number of hearts lost on death would depend on how many hearts the player has: 1 heart at 10 or more, 2 at 20 or more, 3 at the maximum, plus one more on Hard.
World generation
Rarer diamonds, portal structures by TankyAibem and Linkershim, polished villages, and a better Abbey.
Advancements
"Echoes" (restore an echo shard's memory), "Child of Moros" (smith a full adamant set) and "Harbinger of Fate" (smith adamant elytra).
Low-priority bugs (see also Known bugs)
Keep structures out of the safe-surface spawning check, fix Trailblaze's speed boost on mud brick slabs while running, and replace the toolsmith's gift of stone tools.
Language
Descriptions for each difficulty in the options menu.

Stretch goals

This section describes planned features from the developer's notes (changelog.md). None of it is in the game yet, and it may never be.

The changelog's back-burner list includes:[4]

  • Foods: potatoes with molasses, French fries, jam bread, a secret meal using fermented spider eyes, and a bag of sugar.
  • Craftable Thorns.
  • More fishing junk from specific biomes (cinnabar, sulfur, dripstone, raw copper, raw gold, disc fragments), more resin from pale garden fishing, and varied goat horns from fishing.
  • Alloy shields: steel with high durability, shakudo blocking splash potions, hepatizon without the movement penalty, electrum damaging undead attackers, and adamant damaging any attacker.
  • Better loot in cold biomes and oceans to balance freezing water, and fewer obols in chests, especially in trial chambers.
  • Recipes or hints in abandoned camp loot, cats traded by farmers, and a wandering trader that sells more than village maps.
  • Copper horns re-added, using sheet music found as treasure.
  • Dense poplar forests and swampier swamps.
  • Advancements for reaching full health and for crafting a secret weapon.
  • Textures: beds, boats with chests, an eye-themed ender chest, and biome sprites for the pale garden, deep dark and sulfur caves.
  • Villages that match villager stories, knowledge books, pottery sherds for enchantments, archaeologist maps based on books (such as Paradise Lost leading to the Abbey), upgraded horns, and a redesigned Abbey and papal outpost.
  • Ore generation: more coal in swamps, sulfur in sulfur caves and iron in cold biomes.

Longer-term plans

This section describes planned features from the developer's notes (my_current_and_future_plans.md). None of it is in the game yet, and it may never be.

The developer's plans file describes 1.12.2 as a user-experience update centered on the death system, with further features moved to later updates. It lists as done: the Wither removing hearts on hit, nastier wither skeletons, Wither spawn requirements, and Paradise Lost and The Divine Comedy no longer giving hearts. Dynamic heart loss was postponed.[5] The developer planned a break after this update to work on videos, art and a new Abbey.

Further ideas in the file:

  • A reworked Wither fight, modelled on a boss that summons allies, with an attack that removes a heart without killing the player. The Wither would be summonable only in one structure, or only under open sky above a certain height.
  • Hell locked behind a structure, possibly the revamped Abbey, after which all portals would work. The aim is to slow progression and give players reasons to stay in Hell longer.
  • Enchantments: removing Protection and Sharpness in favor of specific, mutually compatible alternatives, and an Unbreaking enchantment crafted from the Wither's heart.

The README's queue adds:[6]

  • All enchantments working like warding, so that two books of the same level cannot be combined into a higher level.
  • Reworks of electrum and adamant, including removing Divinity from adamant tools (done in 1.12.1-alpha), and possibly splitting electrum into two alloys.
  • An adventure rework in which reaching the End requires visiting every main overworld structure, each leading to the next through a sacred text traded for a map. The mouthpiece and archaeologist would both trade sacred texts. The developer asked for feedback on this idea.
