Multiplayer

Multiplayer support in Matcha Flavoured was added in 1.10 and extended in 1.12.2, largely by the community contributor Linkershim.[1] The developer designed the pack with "a small group of friends playing together" in mind rather than large servers.[2]

Per-player systems

  • Hearts: each player's maximum health and minimum hearts are stored per player. Deaths and milestone advancements only affect the player concerned. Before 1.12.2, heart loss was tracked per world.[3] One of the chat messages for lowered minimum hearts ("Armies gather beneath the Earth...") is sent to all players.
  • Difficulty is a world setting. On Normal, the first player whose minimum hearts fall to 5 switches the whole world to Hard.[4] See Difficulty.
  • Ender Dragon: each player who kills the dragon for the first time earns a divine favor, even if the first killer is offline, and the safe surface applies to everyone.
  • Joining players: every second, the pack checks for players who have not been set up for the current version. New players get their scoreboards, and players from older versions have recipe unlocks and reward advancements reset.[5] Keep inventory is set when a new player joins.
  • Equipment effects such as bloodrage, Anemos, electrum, adamant and the Wither's heart effect apply only to the player concerned, after fixes in 1.12.1-alpha and after 1.12.2.

Sleeping

Main article: Sleeping

Vanilla sleep skipping is disabled (players_sleeping_percentage is 200). Instead, while anyone sleeps, time advances by (sleeping players ÷ players in the overworld)² × 300 ticks every tick, and the action bar shows how many players are sleeping. A player who goes to bed at night wakes in the morning; sleeping in the day skips half a day.[6][7] This dynamic sleep was written by milo256.

Known issues

  • On Purpur servers keep inventory is handled per dimension and has to be set manually in each.[8]
  • 1.12 fixed severe lag caused by electrum, adamant and shakudo armor on servers.
