Bread is baked dough. It heals 4 (Heart × 2) and removes harmful effects ("Cleanse Maleffect"), which makes it a cheap cure for the Wither effect and poison.[1]

Dough bakes into bread in an oven or on kindling in 5 seconds. The vanilla recipe from wheat is removed. In a mud kiln, dough becomes naan instead.

Usage

Food

Eating bread takes 1.6 seconds, heals 4 (Heart × 2) and removes Poison, Mining Fatigue, Wither, Weakness, Bad Omen, Blindness, Darkness, Infested, Weaving, Nausea, Oozing and Slowness.[2] The developer asks players to bring milk or bread to Hell.[3]

Obtaining bread unlocks French toast. Bread is used in bruschetta, French toast, honied French toast, sweet berry toast, latkes and ice cream. Naan can be used in its place.

History

0.7-alpha Bread is made from dough and cleanses maleffects.
1.0 Bread found in chests is the same as crafted bread.
1.10 New cleanse tooltip icon, so older bread doesn't stack with new bread. Chest bread updated to match.
