The book in the center must be a Hell-Bound Book.[1] The crafted item is named "Blessing", with "Prayer of Demeter" as a dark gray lore line.

Usage

The Prayer of Demeter is applied to equipment in an anvil, like an enchanted book. Frost Walker applies to boots and Frost Protection to chestplates. Any level of Frost Protection on the chestplate protects from freezing water, so this book is enough for that.

The book stores Frost Protection II directly.[2]

History

0.5-alpha Texture added.[3]
0.6-alpha Now counts toward the blessing crafting advancement.
1.12.2 Frost Protection moved to the matcha namespace, but the prayer still gave the old main:freezing_protection, which turns into Frost Protection when the chestplate is worn.
1.12.3 The book stores matcha:freezing_protection directly, so the chestplate has Frost Protection II as soon as the book is applied.[4]

Trivia

  • Demeter is the Greek goddess of the harvest; her grief for Persephone brings winter in the myth, matching the frost enchantments and the hoe in the recipe.
