A golden apple is an apple coated in gold nuggets. It heals 4 ( × 2) and grants Regeneration for 30 seconds and Absorption for 2 minutes.[1] It is also a secret ingredient with its own dishes.

The pack's recipe uses 8 gold nuggets instead of gold ingots. It is unlocked by picking up a gold nugget.[2]

Enchanted variant
Some chests (ancient cities, bastion treasure, desert pyramids, dungeons, mineshafts, ruined portals and woodland mansions) can instead contain a stronger golden apple, the pack's replacement for the enchanted golden apple. It has the same name and heals 4 ( × 2), but grants Regeneration II for 30 seconds, Absorption IV for 2 minutes, and 
Fire Resistance and 
Resistance for 5 minutes each.[3] The vanilla enchanted golden apple doesn't generate.
Usage
Secret ingredient
Golden apples can be cooked into baked golden apples, which make canned golden apples and the gilded empanada. None of these recipes appear in the recipe book. See Secret recipes.
