A hyacinth is a purple flower. It is the vanilla allium, renamed and retextured as a cluster of purple flower spikes. It generates where alliums do in vanilla, gives magenta dye, and is the namesake ingredient of the Elegy of Hyacinthus.

Hyacinths generate in flower forests and meadows, as alliums do in vanilla.

matcha:crafting/clone_allium

Like most small flowers in the pack, a hyacinth can be cloned: one hyacinth, a water bottle and a piece of bone meal make 4 hyacinths, and the empty bottle is given back.[1][2] The cloning recipes unlock when the player picks up bone meal.[3]

The same recipe exists for the poppy, dandelion, blue orchid, azure bluet, the four tulips, oxeye daisy, cornflower, lily of the valley, wither rose, both eyeblossoms, spore blossom, small and big dripleaf, and the lily pad.

Trading

The Farmer's Floral Bundle, sold for 1 obol at the novice level, contains 8 hyacinths among other flowers.[4]

Appearance

Placed hyacinths randomly use one of two models, so a field of them does not look uniform. The potted hyacinth has its own model.[6]

History

1.10 Flower cloning gives 4 flowers instead of 2.

Trivia

  • In Greek myth, the hyacinth grew from the blood of Hyacinthus, who was killed by a discus blown off course by Zephyrus, the west wind. The Zephyr enchantment's blessing is named after him.
