The Estus Flask was a healing drink crafted from Estus Ash. It was removed in 1.12.2 and can no longer be obtained.
Obtaining
Until its removal, the flask was a shapeless crafting recipe: a Glass Bottle and two Estus Ash made one Estus Flask.[1]
Usage
The flask was drunk in 0.6 seconds, much faster than a potion. It healed 4 ( × 2) (Instant Health I) and gave Speed III for 2 seconds, shown in its tooltip as "❤❤" and "🏃 +60% (0:02)". It was a potion item with a gold name and stacked to 64.[1]
Removal
The flask was listed as removed in the 1.10 release notes, because players were using it too heavily:[2] The 1.12 notes then said it would stay, as it was "really important for harder modes".[3] It was finally removed in 1.12.2 so that food would be the main way to heal:
Estus Flask, I want food to be most important, encourage players to actually make farms and ranches[4]
The pack still contains an advancement that plays particles when a player drinks an item named Estus Flask, and its language files still have the name, but it points to a function that no longer exists.[5]
