Riposte is an enchantment added by Matcha Flavoured that springs the wielder backward after each hit, letting them strike and retreat.
Obtaining
The Hepatizon Sword gets Riposte II when it is smithed, and Hepatizon Swords found as loot have it too.[1] No blessing or book gives it.
Usage
Riposte only applies to items whose base item is the stone sword. The pack builds some of its own weapons on that item, including the Hepatizon Sword and the Cleaver, while the vanilla stone sword recipe is removed.
Behavior
After the wielder hits a mob, they are pushed straight backward, away from the direction they face, with a horizontal impulse of 0.458 per level (0.916 at level II). A spear lunge sound plays, and the weapon loses 1 extra point of durability.[2]
The push does not happen while the wielder is riding, gliding with an elytra or in water.
Its anvil cost multiplier is 2.
Trivia
- The developer planned to remove Riposte as not very useful, then kept it after seeing a streamer use Riposte II in PvP to land critical hits in quick succession.[3]
