Crafting
| Name | Ingredients | Recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Elegy of Hyacinthus | 4 × Wind Charge + Hyacinth + 3 × Feather + Hell-Bound Book |
The book in the center must be a Hell-Bound Book.[1] The crafted item is named "Blessing", with "Elegy of Hyacinthus" as a dark gray lore line.
Usage
The Elegy of Hyacinthus is applied to equipment in an anvil, like an enchanted book. Zephyr applies only to leather boots (vanilla leather boots, so also Leather Boots and Sturdy Leather Boots), while Wind Burst applies only to maces, so no single item can use both enchantments from one book: applying it to leather boots gives Zephyr, applying it to a mace gives Wind Burst.[2] At level I, Zephyr makes sneaking give Jump Boost VII. Levels II and III, which add Slow Falling and a charged updraft, are not given by any recipe, trade or loot.
The book stores Zephyr I directly, so two elegies can be combined in an anvil into a Zephyr II book, and two boots with the same level of Zephyr can also be combined.[3]
History
| 0.5-alpha | Texture added.[4] |
|---|---|
| 1.12.2 | Zephyr reworked into three levels; the elegy gives level I, the sneak jump.[5] Zephyr moved to the matcha namespace, but the elegy still gave the old main:zephyr, which turns into Zephyr when the boots are worn.
|
| 1.12.3 | The elegy stores matcha:zephyr directly, so two elegies can be combined into a Zephyr II book.[6]
|
| 1.12.8-beta October 23, 2026 |
The elegy also gives Wind Burst I, which the Prayer of Aeolus no longer gives. Zephyr can only be applied to leather boots.[7][8] |
Trivia
- In Greek myth, Hyacinthus was loved by Apollo and by Zephyrus, the west wind, and the hyacinth flower grew from his blood when he died. The recipe uses a hyacinth (the pack's name for the allium) and wind charges.
- The developer chose the myth of Apollo, Hyacinthus and Zephyrus as a personal reference: hearing it at about age 11 was the first time they had encountered queer men in any story.[9]
