This is the Matcha Flavoured version of Nether Quartz, renamed or changed from vanilla Minecraft.

Quartz is a white mineral used for decoration, glass and circuits. It is the vanilla nether quartz, renamed because in Matcha Flavoured it is mainly an Overworld material: it is mined from quartz deposits and can be made from sand in a blast furnace.

Mining

Quartz drops from quartz deposits (vanilla lapis lazuli ore) and sulfurous quartz deposits (vanilla redstone ore), which generate in the Overworld. See Ores. Sulfurous hellstone, the old nether quartz ore, drops sulfur chunks instead.

  • Blasting sand in a blast furnace gives 1 quartz in 5 seconds.[1]
  • Any quartz block (block of quartz, quartz bricks, quartz pillar, chiseled quartz block or smooth quartz block) crafts back into 4 quartz.[2]

The vanilla recipes that smelt and blast nether quartz ore are removed.[3] Picking up sand or any quartz block unlocks these recipes.

Besides the vanilla uses (quartz blocks, the electric comparator, observers and daylight detectors), quartz is used in:

  • Glass: a mud kiln fires quartz into glass (5 seconds).[4]
  • Clocks: four gold ingots around a quartz, replacing the vanilla recipe's electric wire.[5]
  • Diorite: two cobblestone and two quartz make 4 diorite.[6]

History

0.4-alpha Sulfurous quartz deposits drop both sulfur and quartz.
1.0 Picking up sand or quartz blocks unlocks the quartz recipes.
1.10 Quartz can be fired into glass in a mud kiln.
1.12.1-alpha Quartz generates at higher elevations and in larger amounts.
