A Beacon Kindling is an item that lights a signal fire to call a Wandering Trader to the player. The trader arrives 10 minutes after the kindling is placed and leaves 5 minutes later.

The recipe is unlocked when the player obtains an Obol.[1]
Usage
Using a Beacon Kindling on a block places a lit signal-fire Kindling (campfire) there, with a burst of flame particles and the sound of a fire charge and a quieter Wither spawn sound.[2] While the beacon is active, it gives off trial spawner detection particles every half second.[3]
The fire then summons a wandering trader:[4]

The pack counts the time in 10-second steps (60 steps to arrive, 90 to leave), so each event can happen up to 10 seconds late.[5] The messages are shown to players within 128 blocks of the fire.
- If the fire stops being a lit campfire (put out with water, broken, or replaced), the beacon is cancelled with the message "The Wandering Trader has lost sight of your beacon...", and a trader that has already arrived is removed.[6]
- A player can have one beacon waiting at a time. A second Beacon Kindling placed while the first is active is used up and leaves an ordinary lit signal fire, with the message "You have already summoned a Wandering Trader, please wait patiently while they travel".
- Reloading the data pack cancels all active beacons and removes every summoned trader.
- The summoned trader is invulnerable, and is removed without drops when it leaves.

Behavior
The Beacon Kindling is a chicken spawn egg that places an invisible marker instead of a chicken. As with other spawn eggs, using it on a spawner or trial spawner in Survival destroys every spawner within 16 blocks and deals 20 damage to the player.[7][8]
