Glow berry mash is the simple preparation of glow berries. It heals 2 ( × 1) and grants the Aura intrinsic for 3 seconds, making every other creature within 50 blocks glow.[1]

Glow berries cook into glow berry mash in an oven in 5 seconds or on kindling in 10 seconds. Picking up glow berries unlocks the oven recipe.

Usage

Food

Eating glow berry mash takes 0.8 seconds and heals 2 ( × 1). A bell sound plays, and 2.4 seconds later every other entity within 50 blocks glows for 3 seconds.[2] See Glow Berries#Aura.

Obtaining glow berry mash unlocks glow berry jam and glow berry crumble.

History

1.10 Glow berry mash works.
1.12.3 The aura is triggered by the mash's own custom data instead of the rotten flesh model, so vanilla rotten flesh no longer triggers it.
1.12.4 Glow berry mash made in this version gave no aura. It carries a version number in its custom data, and the advancement that starts the aura required the custom data to be exactly the aura marker.[4][5]
1.12.5 Fixed: the aura advancement only checks that the custom data contains the aura marker, so glow berry mash gives its aura again.[6][7]
1.12.6-alpha Cooking on kindling takes 10 seconds, up from 5.[8][9]

Trivia

  • Glow berry mash is a renamed rotten flesh. In 1.12.2 the aura was triggered by eating anything with the rotten flesh model, so vanilla rotten flesh also triggered it; since 1.12.3 it checks for the mash's own custom data.[10] Since 1.12.4 the automatic item updater gives any rotten flesh held in a hand the mash's tooltip, effects and aura marker, so vanilla rotten flesh becomes a working glow berry mash.[11][12]
