Natural regeneration

For how this works in unmodified Minecraft, see Natural regeneration on the Minecraft Wiki.
Natural regeneration is turned off in Matcha Flavoured. A player's health never recovers on its own, however full they are; it has to be restored with food and other healing sources.
Mechanics
When a player first joins a world, the pack sets the game rule natural_health_regeneration to false.[1] The rule is set from the reward of the root advancement, so it can be turned back on with /gamerule, but it is set to false again whenever a new player joins.[2]
The hunger bar is also hidden and held just above the sprinting threshold, so even with the game rule on, the food level would not reach the level vanilla needs for regeneration.[3]
Healing instead
- Most food heals through Instant Health or
Regeneration.
Raw Estus, dropped by undead mobs, heals the player when picked up.- Warding stones heal nearby players.
- A crystal heart heals with Regeneration XI when used.
Trivia
- The pack's README lists "Natural Regeneration has been removed" and "Hunger has been removed" among its major features.[4]
- In the design video, the developer says the change was inspired by the Beta hunger system, where eating healed the player directly.[5]
