Spider
| Type | Hostile mob |
|---|---|
| Health points | Vanilla |
| Spawn | Overworld, away from the open sky |
| Drops | String, spider eye |
A spider in Matcha Flavoured can't spawn under the open sky in the Overworld. On Normal and Hard, spiders jump much higher, take no fall damage, and leave cobwebs behind when they die.
Spawning
Spiders use the vanilla biome spawn lists, but in the Overworld a spider that appears where it can see the sky is removed at once.[1] They still spawn in caves and under leaves or overhangs. After the Ender Dragon is killed, they are also removed at Y=63 or above; see Surface.
Spiders come from spawners in monster rooms and one woodland mansion room; those spiders drop nothing.
Drops
Loot table minecraft:entities/spider (source); pools roll 1 time(s). Overrides the vanilla table.
| Item | Stack size | Chance per roll | Chance per table | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0–2 | 66.7% | 66.7% | ||
| -1–1 | 33.3% | 33.3% | player kill |
The drops are as in vanilla, except that spiders from the pack's spawners drop nothing.[2]
Behavior
On Normal and Hard, a spider's jump strength is set to 0.85 (about twice the vanilla 0.42), it takes no fall damage, and it is given a permanent, hidden Weaving effect. Weaving makes a mob leave cobwebs where it dies, so killing a spider in a corridor can leave it blocked.[3][4]
