A splash potion is a potion that is thrown and applies its effects to mobs and players where it lands. Because brewing is effectively removed from Matcha Flavoured, splash potions come almost only from the Chemist (the pack's cleric), who sells seven of them. They stack to 64, unlike vanilla potions.

Obtaining

Trading

A novice-level Chemist sells each of the following in stacks of 16 for one Obol. The trades can be used 999 times, so they never run out.[1] These seven trades are all the Chemist offers: the higher levels only have a placeholder trade.

Potion Effects Duration Tooltip
Splash Potion of Slowness Splash Potion of Slowness  Slowness I 5:00 Slowness (5:00)
Splash Potion of Weaving Splash Potion of Weaving Weaving 5:00 Weaving (5:00)
Splash Potion of Oozing Splash Potion of Oozing Oozing 5:00 Oozing (5:00)
Splash Potion of Infestation Splash Potion of Infestation Infested 5:00 Infested (5:00)
Splash Potion of Wind Charging Splash Potion of Wind Charging Wind Charged 5:00 Wind-charged (5:00)
"Wither"  Wither I 2:00 Wither (2:00)
"Darkness"  Darkness and Blindness 1:00 and 0:30 Darkness (5:00), Blindness (5:00)

The durations are the full values; as with any splash potion, mobs farther from the point of impact receive a shorter effect. Each potion hides its vanilla effect list and shows the pack's own tooltip line instead. The Wither and Darkness potions are named after their effect rather than "Splash Potion of ...".[2][3]

Loot

Vanilla splash potions of Slowness and Poison still appear in trial chamber dispensers.

Chance is the probability that a single chest, mob or catch yields at least one, assuming no Looting, Luck or Fortune.

Structures

Source Stack size Chance Notes

Usage

Splash potions are thrown at mobs to apply their effects, as in vanilla. Undead mobs are immune to the Wither effect, so the Wither potion only harms other mobs.

Some throwable foods behave like splash potions, such as Bubbling Mead and Pickled Warped Fungus.

Notes

  • The Darkness potion's tooltip gives 5:00 for both effects, but the potion applies Darkness for 1:00 and Blindness for 0:30.[4]

History

1.12.1-alpha The Chemist no longer sells splash potions of Weakness and Poison or potions of Invisibility. The release notes say all potions will eventually leave the Chemist's trades.
