The Chemist is a villager profession that sells stacks of splash potions. It replaces the cleric, and its job site block is the Chemistry Stand (the renamed brewing stand). All of its trades are at Novice level.

All trades can be used 999 times before restocking, and a Novice chemist offers all seven.[1] The chemist has no trades above Novice.[2]
Each trade gives 16 splash potions, which stack to 64. The potions apply:[3]

The durations are the full values in the potion; as with any splash potion, mobs further from the impact receive shorter effects.
The developer describes the potions as placeholders: "ALL potions will eventually be removed from the cleric trade and he will serve a different function. The Potions were/are place holders before a corresponding food is added".[4]
Like every villager, a chemist that has been traded with also buys its favorite food once.

Issues
- The Darkness potion's tooltip lists Darkness and Blindness for 5:00 each, but the potion applies Darkness for 1:00 (1,200 ticks) and Blindness for 0:30 (600 ticks).[5]
Trivia
- The Darkness potion's internal name is
splash_pitch. - Internally the profession is still
minecraft:cleric; only its displayed name changes.[6]
