Villager

A villager is a passive mob that trades with the player. Matcha Flavoured keeps the vanilla villager but replaces all of its trades, renames seven of its professions, gives each villager a favorite food, and changes where new villagers come from.
Spawning
Villages in Matcha Flavoured generate abandoned from the pack's own building set, which contains no villagers, so the world has no villagers of its own.[1] The developer wants the world to "feel abandoned until YOU come along", with villagers living at the player's base instead.[2]
The main source of villagers is the Asylum Seeker application sold by the Wandering Trader, which spawns an adult or child villager with a randomly chosen culture (villager type). Villagers can then breed as in vanilla Minecraft. Curing a zombie villager also works as in vanilla.
Professions
Villagers take a profession from the vanilla job site blocks. Seven professions have new names:
| Profession | Vanilla name | Job site block |
|---|---|---|
| Farmer | Farmer | Composter |
| Fisherman | Fisherman | Barrel |
| Shepherd | Shepherd | Loom |
| Fletcher | Fletcher | Fletching Table |
| Lumberjack | Leatherworker | Cauldron |
| Archaeologist | Cartographer | Cartography Table |
| Engineer | Armorer | Blast Furnace |
| Chemist | Cleric | Chemistry Stand |
| Jeweler | Toolsmith | Smithing Table |
| Cook | Butcher | Mud Kiln |
| Mouthpiece | Librarian | Lectern |
| Mason | Mason | Stonecutter |
| Weaponsmith | Weaponsmith | Grindstone |
The names come from the resource pack's language file.[3] Nitwits and unemployed villagers are unchanged.
Behavior
Trading
Villager trades can be used 999 times before restocking, and most sell goods in bulk for a single Obol. Apart from the Fisherman, Jeweler and Weaponsmith, villagers do not buy items from the player, except for one sale of their favorite food.
An Amnestic placed next to a villager makes it forget its profession and return to Novice, so it can take a new job and new trades.
Favorite food
Every employed villager that has been traded with at least once is given one extra trade: it buys 1 of a randomly chosen food (4 for chicken nuggets) for 1 obol, once.
Daily schedule
The pack stretches the vanilla villager schedule over a 72,000-tick cycle, three times the length of the vanilla 24,000-tick day, to match its longer days. Adult villagers wake at tick 30, work from tick 6,000, meet from tick 27,000, idle from tick 33,000 and sleep from tick 36,000; every keyframe is exactly three times its vanilla value.[4]
Protection
Villagers are counted as "villager friends" together with wandering traders, iron and snow golems, wolves, cats, happy ghasts and players. A Warding Stone gives every villager friend within 16 blocks
Regeneration I for 3 seconds whenever they do not already have it.[5][6] The developer describes this as a "band-aid fix" for villagers, who "tend not to survive for too long on their own".[7]
Advancements
- A True Community: trade with every profession except the Weaponsmith. Rewards 5 obols.
- God help you... (hidden): "Commit great evil" by killing a villager or a wandering trader.[8]
