Chest
A chest is a block that stores 27 stacks of items, or 54 when two are placed side by side. It works as in vanilla Minecraft, but Matcha Flavoured adds a cheaper recipe that makes chests directly from logs.

Crafting
| Name | Ingredients | Recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Chest | 8 × Any logs | matcha:crafting/chest_from_logs |
| Chest | 8 × Any planks | matcha:crafting/vanilla_chest_from_planks |
Eight logs (any log, wood, stem or hyphae, stripped or not) in a ring make 4 chests. Eight planks still make one chest, as in vanilla; both recipes share one entry in the recipe book.[1][2] Picking up any log unlocks the log recipe.[3]
Since a log makes four planks, the log recipe costs half as much wood as the plank recipe. The design video names it among the recipe changes meant to be kinder to players.[4]

A chest is an ingredient of the sack (with eight sturdy leather) and of hoppers.
Trapped chest
A trapped chest is crafted from a chest and a piece of electric wire, instead of the vanilla tripwire hook.[5] The change makes trapped chests cheap to use for their darker look.[6]

Appearance
The resource pack retextures chests and trapped chests, and the chest screen's title is shown in black.[7]
History
| 1.02 | The chest recipe unlocks properly. |
|---|---|
| 1.03 | The vanilla chest recipe was accidentally re-enabled, giving two plank recipes; there are now two chest recipes, from logs or from planks, in the same recipe-book group. |
| 1.12.1-alpha | Trapped chests are crafted with electric wire. |
Trivia
- The auto-generated transcript of the design video reads "Six and chests can be made directly from logs". Sticks can also be crafted directly from logs.[8]
