Defined incod.json

Cod is a common ⭐☆☆☆ fish caught by fishing in cold and cool saltwater. It is vanilla raw cod, renamed. It cooks into cooked fish, and a Fisherman buys 12 caught cod for an Obol.

Obtaining

Fishing

The Cod can be caught in these climate tables.[1] [2] The chances are per cast of a fishing rod and include the junk and treasure rolls.

Climate Biomes Weight Per catch (open water) Per catch (other water) Per catch (Luck of the Sea III)
Cold saltwater Frozen Ocean, Deep Frozen Ocean 15 of 42 30.36% 31.95% 30.19%
Cool saltwater Cold Ocean, Deep Cold Ocean 15 of 42 30.36% 31.95% 30.19%

The same tables are also rolled by the fisherman's house chest in villages and by the elder guardian's drops, using the biome at the chest or where the elder guardian dies.

Chance is the probability that a single chest, mob or catch yields at least one, assuming no Looting, Luck or Fortune.

Mob loot

Guardians drop cod, and cats can bring cod as a morning gift. These cod have no rarity line, so the Fisherman won't buy them.[3][4]

Usage

Food

Raw fish can be eaten, but it heals nothing: Matcha Flavoured removes hunger, and food only heals through the hearts shown on its tooltip. Cooked, it becomes cooked fish, which heals 4 (Heart × 2).

The recipes match any minecraft:cod, so every small fish gives the same result.[5] A Mud Kiln burns it into charred fish instead.

Trading

The Fisherman buys 12 caught Cod for 1 Obol once he reaches Apprentice level. Only fish caught by fishing (with the ⭐☆☆☆ line) are accepted.[6]
