A bass is an epic ⭐⭐⭐⭐ fish caught by fishing in temperate freshwater. It cooks into cooked large fish, and a Fisherman buys each one for an Obol.

The bass can be caught in this table.[1] The chances are per cast of a fishing rod and include the junk and treasure rolls.

Usage
Food
Raw fish can be eaten, but it heals nothing: Matcha Flavoured removes hunger, and food only heals through the hearts shown on its tooltip. Cooked, it becomes cooked large fish, which heals 5 (
× 2.5).
Cooking
The recipes match any minecraft:salmon, so every large fish gives the same result.[2] A Mud Kiln burns it into charred fish instead.
Crafting ingredient
Because it is a salmon underneath, it can be used wherever a raw salmon is accepted: the green curry stock recipe takes any cod or salmon.[3]
Trading
The Fisherman buys 1 caught bass for 1 Obol once he reaches Master level. Only fish caught by fishing (with the ⭐⭐⭐⭐ line) are accepted.[4]

Angler's Almanac
The Angler's Almanac has an entry for the bass under Temperate Freshwater (listed chance 2.4%), unlocked by catching one while the almanac tab is open.[5] Its description reads:
A powerful freshwater predator and the reason many anglers can turn "just one cast" into an entire afternoon.
