A crappie is a common ⭐☆☆☆ fish caught by fishing in cool freshwater and temperate freshwater. It cooks into cooked fish, and a Fisherman buys 12 of them for an Obol.

Raw fish can be eaten, but it heals nothing: Matcha Flavoured removes hunger, and food only heals through the hearts shown on its tooltip. Cooked, it becomes cooked fish, which heals 4 ( × 2).

The recipes match any minecraft:cod, so every small fish gives the same result. A Mud Kiln burns it into charred fish instead.

Crafting ingredient

Because it is a cod underneath, it can be used wherever a raw cod is accepted: the green curry stock recipe takes any cod or salmon.

Trading

The Fisherman buys 12 caught crappie for 1 Obol once he reaches Apprentice level. Only fish caught by fishing (with the ⭐☆☆☆ line) are accepted.

Angler's Almanac

The Angler's Almanac has an entry for the crappie under Cool Freshwater (listed chance 35.7%) and Temperate Freshwater (listed chance 35.7%), unlocked by catching one while the almanac tab is open. Its description reads:

A fish with an unfortunate name and the confidence to be delicious anyway.
