An axolotl is a fishing junk item caught in Dripstone Caves and Lush Caves. Using it spawns an axolotl, like a spawn egg. It doesn't stack.

It is 10 of 88 junk weight in those biomes: 11.36% of junk, about 1.14% of all catches.[1] Catching one plays its own sound.
Usage
Placing it spawns an axolotl. Using it on a spawner destroys every spawner and trial spawner within 16 blocks and deals 20 damage to the player (outside Creative).[2]
Trivia
- It is a chicken spawn egg with its entity data set to an axolotl.
- Its almanac entry reads: "You were fishing for fish. The axolotl has decided that technicalities are beneath it."
