Salmon is a common ⭐☆☆☆ fish caught by fishing in cold and cool saltwater. It is vanilla raw salmon, renamed. It cooks into cooked large fish, and a Fisherman buys 12 caught salmon for an Obol.
Obtaining
Fishing
The Salmon can be caught in these climate tables.[1] [2] The chances are per cast of a fishing rod and include the junk and treasure rolls.
| Climate | Biomes | Weight | Per catch (open water) | Per catch (other water) | Per catch (Luck of the Sea III) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cold saltwater | Frozen Ocean, Deep Frozen Ocean | 15 of 42 | 30.36% | 31.95% | 30.19% |
| Cool saltwater | Cold Ocean, Deep Cold Ocean | 15 of 42 | 30.36% | 31.95% | 30.19% |
The same tables are also rolled by the fisherman's house chest in villages and by the elder guardian's drops, using the biome at the chest or where the elder guardian dies.

Usage
Food
Raw fish can be eaten, but it heals nothing: Matcha Flavoured removes hunger, and food only heals through the hearts shown on its tooltip. Cooked, it becomes cooked large fish, which heals 5 (
× 2.5).
Cooking
The recipes match any minecraft:salmon, so every large fish gives the same result.[3] A Mud Kiln burns it into charred fish instead.
Trading
The Fisherman buys 12 caught Salmon for 1 Obol once he reaches Apprentice level. Only fish caught by fishing (with the ⭐☆☆☆ line) are accepted.[4]

Angler's Almanac
The Angler's Almanac has an entry for the Salmon under Cold Saltwater (listed chance 35.7%) and Cool Saltwater (listed chance 35.7%), unlocked by catching one while the almanac tab is open.[5] Its description reads:
A determined fish that swims upstream fights rapids and refuses to accept that "going back" is a bad idea.
Advancements
- No More Fish in the Sea – catch every fish, including this one. Rewards 10 Obols.
