Jewelry
Jewelry is a group of wearable items sold by the Jeweler: earrings and a circlet, worn in the head slot. The four gem pieces each give a permanent status effect while worn, bought with Obols and a gem from a structure or a boss. Three plain pairs of earrings are purely decorative.
The developer deliberately gave jewelry no advancements explaining it, preferring that players find out what it does on their own.[1]

Properties
All jewelry is built on a netherite helmet, which gives it these properties:[4]
- It is worn in the head slot, so it replaces a helmet. Only one piece of jewelry can be worn at a time, and wearing jewelry means giving up a helmet's armor and any helmet intrinsics.
- It gives 1 armor point, with no armor toughness or knockback resistance.
- It is unbreakable.
- Like netherite, it doesn't burn in fire or lava when dropped.
The gem effects are intrinsic enchantments that run every tick while the piece is worn by a player, reapplying a 1-second hidden effect. The effect therefore lasts exactly as long as the jewelry is worn.[5]
- Opal Earrings give Dolphin's Grace at all times and Conduit Power only while the wearer is in water.[6]
- Ruby Circlet gives Fire Resistance.[7]
- Amber Earrings give 3 seconds of Regeneration I whenever the wearer has no Regeneration, which amounts to constant Regeneration I.[8] Since Matcha Flavoured has no natural regeneration, this is one of the few ways to heal without eating.
- Topaz Earrings give Haste II.[9]
Gems
Each gem comes from a different source and unlocks one piece of gem jewelry. The Jeweler buys gems back at Master level.
| Gem | Source | Jeweler pays | Advancement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Killing an Elder Guardian | 4 × |
Canto I: "Defeat the Sea God" | |
| Bastion Remnant chests | 8 × |
Canto II: "Pillage the Remnants of Pandaemonium" | |
| Brushing suspicious blocks in trail ruins | 4 × |
Canto III: "Exhume the Pilgrim's Trails" | |
| Ancient city chests | 10 × |
Canto IV: "Raid Tartarus" |
The four Canto advancements form a chain in the Tutorial tab. The first three each reward a Crystal Heart, and Canto IV rewards two.[10]
Nazar Circlet
The resource pack contains a worn texture for a nazar circlet, but there is no item, recipe or trade for it. It is not obtainable in the current version.[11]
History
| 0.4-alpha | Gems can now be sold to the Jeweler. |
|---|---|
| 0.6-alpha | Jewelry is now unbreakable, so it never needs repairing. |
| 1.10 | Fixed Amber Earrings in multiplayer. |
| 1.12 | Amber Earrings could be crafted in a smithing table, a leftover from testing. This was removed. |
| 1.12.1-alpha | All jewelry textures were redrawn at a higher resolution. |
| 1.12.2 | Added Diamond, Amethyst and Lapis Earrings, which have no effect.
Opal Earrings now give Conduit Power only in water. Earrings no longer give knockback resistance. |
Trivia
- The developer on the plain earrings: "They don't do anything but they ARE very cute".[12]
- The jewelry textures for the amber and opal earrings were originally made by a community artist and edited by the developer.[13]
