A wooden cross is a simple charm made of sticks and Estus Ash that gives Warding 1 while held. It is the cheapest warding item, and unlike the other warding items it stacks to 64.

Archaeology

Wooden crosses can be brushed out of the graves at an Abbey.[2]

Usage

Held in the main hand or off hand, a wooden cross gives Warding 1: every second, undead mobs within 8 blocks get Slowness II and the nearest undead mob within 3 blocks takes 1 (Half heart × 0.5) of damage that ignores armor. It never damages the Wither.[3] Its warding adds to that of an item in the other hand, so a wooden cross in the off hand raises a Warding Sword to Warding 2 or a Nazar to Warding 3. See Warding.

The wooden cross is built on a poisonous potato, but the pack removes its ability to be eaten.[4]

Advancements

The hidden advancement God help you... ("Commit great evil"), granted for killing a villager or wandering trader, uses the wooden cross as its icon.[5]
