Topaz is a gem found in ancient city chests. It is used to buy Topaz Earrings from the Jeweler and is the most valuable of the four gems.
Obtaining

Topaz is one of the weighted treasures in ancient city chests, alongside Crystal Hearts and pith.[1]
Chance is the probability that a single chest, mob or catch yields at least one, assuming no Looting, Luck or Fortune.

[2] Topaz can either be turned into jewelry or sold back to a Master-level Jeweler for 10 Obols.
Advancements
Obtaining topaz grants Canto IV ("Raid Tartarus") in the Tutorial tab, which rewards two Crystal Hearts. It follows Canto III and is the last of the four.[3]

- Like the other gems, topaz is built on a poisonous potato; through 1.12.2 it was built on a fermented spider eye.[4]
